Counter Current

A swim jet counter current system is another fantastic addition we can make to your pool as part of our pool fittings installation service. Thanks to powerful jets of water that create a strong current, swim jet counter current systems provide swimmers with an intense workout.

As the water flows through the jets, it’s forced into a small space, causing the water to move faster. The result is a powerful current that can be adjusted to accommodate swimmers of all levels and abilities.

Pool Heating

Air source heat pumps are becoming the most popular source of swimming pool heating. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor pools, they draw in the air around the pool to heat the water. This air compressed and passed through a heat exchanger, heating up the water as it passes through.

The warm water is then circulated back into the pool. Air source heat pumps are also an efficient way to heat pools, as they don’t require a lot of energy to operate. They also do not produce any greenhouse gases, making them a very environmentally friendly option.

NIVEKO Skimmer Invisible 3
Step 1 skimmer

Skimmer

A skimmer pool, also known as a freeboard pool, has a water level that sits approximately 100mm below the edge of the pool. This creates a gap between the top of the pool and the water where a skimmer will usually be installed. The skimmer then draws water from the surface of the pool and circulates it back into the main body of water.

Step 1 overflow

Deck Level

A deck level pool, also referred to as an overflow pool, features an overflow channel around the entire perimeter of the pool. As the water line is level with the edge of the pool, water overflows into this channel that is usually covered with plastic grating, or tiles or stone for a more luxurious finish.

Infinity Edge

An ‘infinity pool’ refers to an ‘infinite edge pool’, ‘vanishing edge pool’, or ‘negative edge pool’ and is characterised by having one or more exposed walls (weir) that are a fraction of an inch shorter than the water level. This creates the illusion of water extending to the horizon, as water falls into a catch basin below.

I'd like to thank all the team at Chemsol for their hard work and diligence during our pool build. In particular, our project manager Matt was great and helped bring the project together. Most importantly our kids love their new pool, as do all their friends!

Pool Construction Types

Luxury Commercial Pools

Luxury Commercial Pools

Concrete swimming pools are an extremely strong pool construction and are built using reinforced steel rods to form the shape of the pool. This is then sprayed with concrete to form the pool shell. This is then tanked for waterproofing and finished with render. Chosen tiles are then applied to the smooth render for a high end finish.

It is the ultimate in bespoke luxury and is traditionally what people think of when considering a pool construction.

FAQs

What are the benefits of using a swimming pool cover?

Swimming pool covers offer several benefits:

  • Heat Retention: They help retain heat, reducing the cost of heating your pool.
  • Evaporation Reduction: Covers significantly reduce water evaporation, saving water and reducing the need for frequent refills.
  • Debris Prevention: They keep leaves, dirt, and other debris out of the pool, reducing cleaning time and maintenance.
  • Safety: Some covers provide a safety barrier to prevent accidental falls into the pool, especially for children and pets

How do solar pool covers work?

Solar pool covers, also known as solar blankets, float on the surface of the pool and use the sun’s energy to heat the water. They have tiny air pockets that capture heat from the sun and transfer it to the pool water. Additionally, they act as insulators, preventing heat loss and reducing evaporation.

Can I use a pool cover during winter?

Yes, you can use a pool cover during winter, but ideally a Winter Cover. These are designed to protect the pool from harsh weather conditions, prevent debris from accumulating, and reduce the risk of algae growth. They also help maintain the pool’s water level and chemical balance during the off-season.

How do I choose the right pool cover for my needs?

Choosing the right pool cover depends on your specific needs:

  • Safety Covers: Ideal if you have children or pets and need a strong, secure cover.
  • Solar Covers: Best for heating the pool and reducing evaporation.
  • Winter Covers: Suitable for protecting the pool during the off-season.
  • Automatic Covers: Convenient for easy use and provide a good balance of safety and maintenance.

How do you secure a pool cover to a pool?

The installation method of a pool cover will vary depending on whether you have a in-ground or above-ground pool, however, you can secure a pool cover using water bags, weights, stakes, deck anchors, or cover clips.

The pool cover should be securely tightly to prevent debris from infiltrating the pool. For a more accurate idea of how to secure a pool cover to your pool, please don’t hesitate to contact our experienced pool cover installation team.

Do you need planning permission for a covered swimming pool?

Typically, planning permission isn’t necessary for the majority of private outdoor swimming pools in the UK as they’re often considered 'garden projects'.

However, restrictions may apply depending on the size and location of your desired pool. If you’re unsure, it’s also worth contacting a professional company, like the Chemsol Group, for tailored guidance based on your requirements and local area.

What do pool covers attach to?

Often, pool covers are attached to a type of hardware called anchors that are installed in the pool deck. However, the best way to secure your pool cover will vary depending on the type of pool you’ve constructed.

Is it better to have a pool cover or not?

A pool cover is normally always a good idea. Not only do they protect your pool from unwanted dirt, debris, and more, but they’re also energy efficient as they can significantly reduce your pool heating costs as well as the rate of water evaporation.

What are pool fittings made of?

Pool fittings can be made from a wide range of materials to ensure their durability. This includes glass, plastic, stainless steel, and aluminium. At the Chemsol Group, you can explore a wide range of stylish and durable pool fittings to suit your private or commercial swimming pool.
