CAD Drawing Plans

CAD drawing plans help to ensure that all variables have been considered and that the pool design can be used with your swimming pool contractor. CAD drawing plans can be used to create a custom pool design or 3D rendering of your pool design. They can also be used to modify an existing design.

Detailed Pool Sections

Section drawings can provide detailed information about specific sections of the pool design, ensuring that suppliers and on-site fitters have the correct information for a successful installation.

Section drawings can also be used to create a visual guide for the build team and architects, highlighting any potential problems or areas of concern.

Plant Room Schematics

Pool plant room schematics are an essential part of pool design and construction. They show the location of the pool's filtration equipment, pumps, and other mechanical components.

These schematics also help pool builders to understand the pool's layout and dimensions, allowing them to create a pool that meets the project’s specific requirements.

Pool Types

NIVEKO Skimmer Invisible 3
Step 1 skimmer

Skimmer

A skimmer pool is also known as a freeboard pool. In this type of pool, the water sits approximately 100mm below the edge of the pool. This creates a gap between the top of the pool and the water.

A skimmer will usually be installed in this gap, which will draw water from the surface of the pool and circulate it back into the main body of water.

NIVEKO Multi 5
Step 1 overflow

Deck Level

A deck level pool, also known as an overflow pool, is a type of swimming pool where the entire perimeter is surrounded by an overflow channel. The water line is level with the edge of the pool, creating a high-end and unique design.

The overflow channel is typically covered with plastic grating, or with tiles or stone for a more luxurious finish.

Infinity Edge

The term ‘infinity pool’ specifically refers to an ‘infinite edge pool’, ‘vanishing edge pool’, or ‘negative edge pool’. All these terms refer to pools that have one or more exposed walls (weirs) that are a fraction of an inch shorter than the water level, allowing water to flow into the catch basin below.

The result is the illusion of water flowing off the edge of the pool and into the horizon.

I'd like to thank all the team at Chemsol for their hard work and diligence during our pool build. In particular, our project manager Matt was great and helped bring the project together. Most importantly our kids love their new pool, as do all their friends!

Pool Construction Types

Luxury Commercial Pools

Luxury Commercial Pools

Concrete swimming pools are an extremely strong pool construction and are built using reinforced steel rods to form the shape of the pool. This is then sprayed with concrete to form the pool shell. This is then tanked for waterproofing and finished with render. Chosen tiles are then applied to the smooth render for a high end finish.

It is the ultimate in bespoke luxury and is traditionally what people think of when considering a pool construction.

A "mono pool" such as NIVEKO is also known as a "one piece" pool because they are factory-made and usually delivered in one piece. Larger sized pools are delivered in sections and are welded on site.

They are pre-assembled, with all the optional finishes such as invisible skimmers, underwater lighting, jets, steps and a cover cave are pre-manufactured in the factory and delivered complete to site, ready for installation.

FAQs

What to consider when designing a swimming pool?

When designing a swimming pool, it’s important to consider factors such as the intended use (e.g., recreational, competitive training, therapeutic), the available space, budget, and local regulations. Additionally, the pool’s shape, depth, and materials, as well as features like lighting, heating, and safety measures, should be planned carefully to ensure functionality, aesthetics and an amazing design. All these and more are explored and suggested during your Chemsol swimming pool consultation.

How long does it take to design and build a swimming pool?

The timeline for designing and building a swimming pool can vary widely depending on the complexity of the design, the size of the pool, and local permitting processes. On average, the design phase can take a few weeks to a couple of months, while construction can take anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks.

How can a swimming pool consultant help with my project?

A swimming pool consultant can provide expert advice and guidance throughout the entire process, from initial design to final construction. They can help you navigate local regulations, select the best materials and features, and ensure that the pool meets safety standards. Consultants can also assist with budgeting, project management, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during construction.

If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask us now!

How should I design my pool?

Designing a pool should always start with getting in touch with a professional pool design consultancy.

A professional pool design consultant will ensure you benefit from a high-quality pool that not only meets your aesthetic and practical requirements, but also abides by local planning regulations and includes essential safety features that you may not have considered.

What is a swimming pool designer?

A swimming pool designer, also known as a pool design consultant, uses their knowledge of pool planning, permits, installation and long-term maintenance to create tailored pool designs that meet their clients’ specific needs. They consider both their client’s aesthetic and practical requirements.

How do I choose a pool design consultant?

There are many factors you should consider when choosing a pool design consultant, such as their reviews (from both their clients and other industry professionals) as well as their accreditations.

Ask whether they have accreditations from key industry bodies like PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group), WMS (Water Management Society), and SPATA - The Swimming Pool and Allied Trade Association.

Another important aspect of picking a reliable pool design consultancy is opting for a company that has experience not only in pool and spa design, but construction, too. At Chemsol Group, for example, we offer a full range of pool design and build services, from the creation of the initial concept through to completion.

What is an architectural pool?

An architectural pool is simply a pool that’s been designed by an architect to add aesthetic appeal and value to a property. Due to their more complex nature, they’re often more expensive to design and build than other types of pools.

What is the difference between design agency and consultancy?

The main difference between a design agency and consultancy is the way in which they work with their clients. In many cases, a design agency will work on behalf of their client, while a consultancy will offer their guidance and advice which the client can use as they wish.
